Hi, I'm so glad you're here.

I write about ordinary people and the secrets that undo them—Southern Gothic, suspense, mystery, and the darker shadows in between.

I write because it's the most challenging and most rewarding work I've ever done.

There's a delicious uncertainty in beginning a story that's never been told before. Every story is something brand new in the world, even if it grows from a familiar theme, a folktale (a favorite starting place for me), an evocative painting, a bit of overheard conversation, or a dream. I never know what my imagination is going to pull from memory and whisper: this is where the story begins.

My body of work is eclectic because I'm drawn to stories rather than categories. My earliest thrillers combine the supernatural with suspense, and the Bliss House Gothic novels center on a house haunted by both ghosts and very human longings. My most recent work is grounded firmly in reality: crimes, secrets, betrayals, and revenge.

I'm a grateful writer. Grateful to the characters who show up and trust me with their stories. Grateful to you, the reader. Without a reader, a story spends eternity waiting, silent and alone. You complete my stories. Thank you for that.
